Improve Computer Performance with SpeedUpMyPC 2009

Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 3 Review

Uniblue has just released SpeedUpMyPC 2009.  This computer optimization utility is Vista Certified, and is deployed using Microsoft's brand new .NET Framework Client Profile.  The SpeedUpMyPC 2009 program enhances every aspect of your computing experience by tuning your PC to its most optimal speed.  See our review of the SpeedUpMyPC 2009 computer optimization program.

The computer being used in this SpeedUpMyPC review is an Intel Pentium 4 CPU at 2.6GHz with 512 MB of RAM. This is the same system used in the RegistryBooster tutorial. It was being used in an office environment doing day-to-day office tasks. Let’s see if we can speed it up some more with version 3 of the SpeedUpMyPC program made by Uniblue. This is a tutorial or walkthrough of the Uniblue software in action.

This is a screenshot of the Windows Task Manager before running or installing the SpeedUpMyPC utility.

For this tutorial, I tried the PassMark performance benchmark test to see how much of an improvement SpeedUpMyPC can give this computer. Here is the initial result of the benchmark.

The Passmark ranking before running the Uniblue utility

This is the baseline information that the PassMark program shows. I’m thinking the resource to watch would be the available memory. It looks like this program and the Windows Task Manager report two different results.

The installation of SpeedUpMyPC was uneventful. Although the SpeedUpMyPC will give your computer a free scan, you will have to buy the program from Uniblue before you can actually optimize your system. Upon starting the program, it automatically scanned the computer and gave us the results you see here. Notice that the optimization level is LOW. SpeedUpMyPC told me there were some areas that needed optimization so I smacked the Optimize button.

The system overview shows the optimization level is LOW

When it was finished, it showed that everything optimized just fine and I noticed that the optimization level is HIGH. All is good.

There are many other areas of optimization to perform if needed. You can manually optimize your startup programs and memory, CPU, disk and Internet settings. For now, I left those settings as they were.

There is also an application booster to monitor and prioritize the resource usage of your applications.

After running SpeedUpMyPC, the PassMark performance rating went up about 6 points. Higher is better.

The PassMark Rating

Checking out the baseline information of this computer, it shows that the available memory went up from 194 MB to 289 megabytes of available physical memory after running the Uniblue software. That is quite an improvement.

Baseline information after optimization

A shot of the task manager shows an improvement about 46 megabytes of available memory.

Even though the PassMark benchmark utility and the Windows task manager had a little disagreement about the resources, they both show quite an improvement of the available resources that were freed up on this computer. The SpeedUpMyPC program is extremely easy to use with no surprises and it does what it says it will. It boosts system performance.

Taking in consideration the boost in performance and the ease of use of SpeedUpMyPC, on a scale of Bytes to Brontobytes, SpeedUpMyPC gets a Brontobyte. To quote the Uniblue boast, Uniblue is “Software Made Easy”.

Keep the megabytes and gigabytes running fast on your computer with the Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009 utility. This byte management utility does just what it says it can do. It speeds up your PC. Disk clutter, RAM, CPU and your system settings are all automatically scanned, cleaned and optimized for peak performance. Try a Free Scan to see how much you can optimize your PC. Gyula - Let it run – Depending on the speed of your computer, the .NET installation takes awhile.

Looks like I may be headed the same way. It won,t accept the licencse key probably due to 10 "0"'s and not knowing whether it's a letter or a number. Can't contact by phone and their website only provides for purchasing. The slow burn is notching up! DD

Hi Jerry, It's Hilary here from Uniblue. A while back, I responded to a similar post you left on whatthetech.com where I asked you to get in touch with me. We have tracked the history of your order, and we sent you a letter of destruction in May, to which you didn't respond, therefore we couldn't process the refund. Maybe you changed your email address. My email is hilaryr@uniblue.net - please get in touch Regards, Hilary

The RegistryBooster and SpeedUpMyPC software are excellent optimization utilities for a computer but they cannot work miracles. Perhaps Keith’s computer was just too far gone for any utility to fix.

My first purchase was Registry Booster 2. I loaded it and ran the application and enjoyed the fruits with a physical memory dump and a blue screen. Recovery through the boot menu and choice of 'optimized' did far better than Uniblue's $30 application. Convinced tha I could, in fact, improve my machine's performance I tried SpeedUpMyPC and was equally unimpressed. Every run has resulted in a loss of the Winsock Library and cascades of connectivity denials. Emails to their tech support have resulted only in suggestions to have a restore point [DUH!] and not to run portions of the apps. Both programs are horrible and poorly supported pieces of junk successful only in extracting cash from consumers.

Jerry, I’m surprised to hear that the Uniblue software did not live up to your expectations. Your comment stated that you “didn’t see much difference”. If you did see any kind of improvement then the software is doing its job. I have always seen positive results from the SpeedUpMyPC and RegistryBooster optimization utilities and continue to recommend the products. I hope that the returns department will catch up to your requests for your money back and everything works out well for you and let us know how it turns out.

I purchased a license for UniBlue's Registry Booster 2. I didn't find that it made enough difference to warrant the $30 license fee. I also purchased UniBlue's SpeedUpMyPC. It removed all my cookies, saved passwords, etc., but I still didn't see much difference, in spite of its claim to have fixed many, many problems. When I asked UniBlue for the refund (as promised) they never sent me the Letter of Destruction E-mail to certify my removal of the product; never processed my refund; and would not ever reply to any of my followup e-mails asking about it. I advise that you avoid UniBlue. It cost me $60 to learn that. I'm telling YOU for free. Jerry
