Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 3 Review
Uniblue has just released SpeedUpMyPC 2009. This computer optimization utility is Vista Certified, and is deployed using Microsoft's brand new .NET Framework Client Profile. The SpeedUpMyPC 2009 program enhances every aspect of your computing experience by tuning your PC to its most optimal speed. See our review of the SpeedUpMyPC 2009 computer optimization program.
The computer being used in this SpeedUpMyPC review is an Intel Pentium 4 CPU at 2.6GHz with 512 MB of RAM. This is the same system used in the RegistryBooster tutorial. It was being used in an office environment doing day-to-day office tasks. Let’s see if we can speed it up some more with version 3 of the SpeedUpMyPC program made by Uniblue. This is a tutorial or walkthrough of the Uniblue software in action.
This is a screenshot of the Windows Task Manager before running or installing the SpeedUpMyPC utility.

For this tutorial, I tried the PassMark performance benchmark test to see how much of an improvement SpeedUpMyPC can give this computer. Here is the initial result of the benchmark.
This is the baseline information that the PassMark program shows. I’m thinking the resource to watch would be the available memory. It looks like this program and the Windows Task Manager report two different results.

The installation of SpeedUpMyPC was uneventful. Although the SpeedUpMyPC will give your computer a free scan, you will have to buy the program from Uniblue before you can actually optimize your system. Upon starting the program, it automatically scanned the computer and gave us the results you see here. Notice that the optimization level is LOW. SpeedUpMyPC told me there were some areas that needed optimization so I smacked the Optimize button.

When it was finished, it showed that everything optimized just fine and I noticed that the optimization level is HIGH. All is good.

There are many other areas of optimization to perform if needed. You can manually optimize your startup programs and memory, CPU, disk and Internet settings. For now, I left those settings as they were.

There is also an application booster to monitor and prioritize the resource usage of your applications.

After running SpeedUpMyPC, the PassMark performance rating went up about 6 points. Higher is better.

Checking out the baseline information of this computer, it shows that the available memory went up from 194 MB to 289 megabytes of available physical memory after running the Uniblue software. That is quite an improvement.

A shot of the task manager shows an improvement about 46 megabytes of available memory.

Even though the PassMark benchmark utility and the Windows task manager had a little disagreement about the resources, they both show quite an improvement of the available resources that were freed up on this computer. The SpeedUpMyPC program is extremely easy to use with no surprises and it does what it says it will. It boosts system performance.
Taking in consideration the boost in performance and the ease of use of SpeedUpMyPC, on a scale of Bytes to Brontobytes, SpeedUpMyPC gets a Brontobyte. To quote the Uniblue boast, Uniblue is “Software Made Easy”.
