Update System Device Drivers with DriverScanner

DriverScanner 2012

Update your Drivers with DriverScanner 2011

Review of the UniBlue DriverScanner

This review of DriverScanner is being performed on a freshly loaded system with Windows 7.  I was never a fan of the basic drivers that Microsoft loaded with the Operating System so I wanted to be sure to have the latest device drivers loaded at all times.  In the past, updating drivers could be quite a computer crashing experience.  Nevertheless, to keep the computer running at its top performance it was a job that needed to be done.

Without updating drivers regularly, computers may face problems ranging from the relatively minor, such as having hardware that seems buggy and poorly performing, to the more major such as hardware failures, conflicts and complete system crashes.

UniBlue has solved that dilemma with the release of DriverScanner.  DriverScanner is an easy and safe way to update computer system drivers that will increase the performance and stability of the PC.  DriverScanner is also an important part of the Uniblue PowerSuite 2012.

As with all of the Uniblue products, they offer a free scan of the product to see if the utility is what you need.  If you find that the product is useful and needed, you will have to purchase it to use the software.  The first step is to download and install the software.

Welcome to the Uniblue Setup Wizard

The Installation of DriverScanner was uneventful.  When it was finished, I had the option to launch the program and I did so.  The driver scan started automatically and finished with the following results.  It looks like I have an ancient Gigabit Controller.  Naturally, I did not want an ancient driver on this system so I clicked the Download All button to update the driver.

The Scan Found one Ancient Driver

DriverScanner successfully downloaded the driver updates and I was told to install the drivers all I had to do was click the install link.  Naturally, I smacked the Install link to update my driver.

Click to Update Drivers

After clicking to install the driver, Uniblue DriverScanner performed a very important operation before the installation.  It created a restore point just in case the driver did not agree with something on the system.

When the driver was installed, it told me so.

The Driver was Installed Successfully

The Uniblue DriverScanner Barometer report showed that there were no outdated drivers found that would threaten the stability of the system.

The Driverscanner Overview

There are also many different settings of the program pertaining on how you want it to run.  You have the option to launch the program when Windows starts to always keep your drivers up to date.  This is a recommended setting.

The DriverScanner General Settings

This computer had a fresh Windows 7 installation and I was not sure what to expect with the review of DriverScanner.  It only found one out of date driver but that one driver could be enough to cause problems.  The review of the previous version on an older computer found 7 outdated drivers. DriverScanner also takes the proactive approach by having the option to scan for new drivers when Windows starts to find new drivers as they become available.  This is important because Windows 7 is new and as time passes you can be sure there will be many updates that will keep the computer running like new.

Uniblue is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner so there is little worry about using any of their computer optimization products, they just work.  DriverScanner is an integral part of the Uniblue PowerSuite 2012 that also includes SpeedUpMyPC and RegistryBooster.  All of the products work on Windows 7, Vista and XP.  The combination of those three utilities will keep your computer running at its peak performance.

As with all of the Uniblue products we have tested and reviewed, DriverScanner gets an honorable Brontobyte on a scale of Bytes to Brontobytes.  This is a recommended utility to have in your toolbox to keep your computer running at its optimal level of performance.

I have used UbDS for a few yrs now. At first it seemed to work fine but lately it seems that on more than one occasion the drivers dowloaded do not install. I always report this but never get a reply. Recently after updating my drivers several times, I now have system crashes and blue screen at least every 3rd day.
