Update System Device Drivers with DriverScanner

Update your Drivers with DriverScanner

Review of the UniBlue DriverScanner

Uniblue has just released a very handy utility for updating your computer device drivers.  Driver Scanner 2012 is a sensible solution for upgrading old or outdated system drivers and it is part of the UniBlue PowerSuite 2012 computer optimization program.   DriverScanner 2012 searches your computer for all installed drivers and references what it finds with their comprehensive database of drivers then gives you the tools to update you computer with the latest, safest versions. See our Review of DriverScanner.

Outdated system drivers can significantly decrease the computer performance but updating them on your own can be a nightmare.  I have crashed my share of computers by updating drivers and have repaired many more for the same reason.  DriverScanner 2012 is Microsoft Gold Certified so the chances of crashing a system with the help of DriverScanner are minimal.  Just in case something happens, I first created an image of this computer before doing a review of DriverScanner.

As with all of the Uniblue utilities, they offer a Free Scan to let you know if you need to purchase the program.  The computer I am using for this review is loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate and has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU running at 1.86GHz.  Let’s see What DriverScanner recommends for driver updates.

The DriverScanner Setup Wizard

The installation was very quick and uneventful.

After the install was complete, I started DriverScanner and here are the results of the scan.  The driver update utility found seven out of date drivers on this fairly new system.  It found that the display adapter, network adapter and a few system devices were out of date.  DriverScanner also shows a level of safety of the drivers it wants to install.  The levels are Safe, Moderate and Risky.  All of the drivers it wants to update are marked safe.  Being that Uniblue is a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, I smacked the Download All button.

DriverScanner Found Out of Date Drivers

Once the drivers were downloaded, they needed to be installed.  When the Install Driver button was clicked, the following screen popped warning me all drivers can cause unexpected problems or create conflicts with other drivers.  DriverScanner recommended that I backup my drivers first using the Backup tab on the main interface.  I thought that was a very good idea so I clicked on the Do Not Install button.

Use DriverScanner 2009 to Backup System Drivers

After clicking the backup tab I was given a list of all of the drivers on the PC with detailed information about what they are.  I checked the box to perform a complete backup of all the drivers.

Backup all Drivers before Updating

The backup of all of the system drivers was a quick process.  When the process was finished, I downloaded and installed all of the drivers that DriverScanner recommended and rebooted the computer.  It did reboot.  That’s always a plus when system drivers are updated!  Uniblue is a trusted source of driver updates so I wasn’t worried.  After the reboot, I started the Uniblue DriverScanner utility and found that all of the system drivers were up to date.

DriverScanner Reports all Drivers are up to Date

If you feel that your computer may be unstable because of outdated system drivers, the safest way to update them would be with the DriverScanner utility.  Trying to update drivers on your own is a long and possibly a computer crashing experience.  Let the experts help.  Try a free scan and see how many of your drivers need updating.  Keeping the computer drivers up to date keeps your computer running fast and raises the performance level of the PC.  See our Review of DriverScanner 2012.

We have reviewed the SpeedUpMyPC, RegistryBooster and DriverScanner computer optimization programs and have found that they are all very reliable utilities.  Those three programs are what make up the Uniblue PowerSuite.  If you want to keep your computer running at its peak performance the suite of optimization tools are recommended tools to have at your disposal.

Howard, If you took the time to read the review, you would have seen this sentence in the third paragraph: As with all of the Uniblue utilities, they offer a Free Scan to let you know if you need to purchase the program. Nothing Deceptive about that is there? If Uniblue were to let you actually use the product, most people would just update the drivers and never buy the product. How is a software company to survive with that business model? Our apologies if you think you have been tricked.

No doubt Uniblue thinks it is very clever to trick us into downloading driverscanner, a “free download”, only to find out we have to pay for the program. I wasted more than 30 minutes before I found your very small type that said: ”The free DriverScanner scan will identify drivers that need updating. You will then be able to download those drivers by purchasing the full version of this product.“ Nope, your wrong. I don’t expect to get something for nothing but it’s not unusual for a company to let a person use a product once, or for a period of time before purchasing it. It’s clear that your purpose was and is to deceive, to trick your potential customers. That is very disrespectful and I will look for other alternatives before I send you another penny. I will also ask Microsoft, People’s Choice, ZZZNet Editors Choice, Computer Act!ve, And Tucows to include the information that is missing in their endorsements. People will have to pay $29.95 to download the missing drivers after the “FREE DOWNLOAD” tells them what is missing. Former Uniblue customer

Does this work on Windows 7 or will there be a Driverscanner 2010 released soon?
